The greatest good for the greatest number and Country.
Leave no-one behind.
Outback Academy Australia partners with Aboriginal landholders and communities to build regenerative agriculture, ethical supply chains and new economic opportunities across Australia.
Our approach connects land, culture, business capability and ethical supply chains to create long‑term employment and economic independence for First Nations families.
Outback Academy Australia is a majority Aboriginal‑led not‑for‑profit organisation working with First Nations landholders to build regenerative agriculture, horticulture and nature‑based enterprises that strengthen communities and restore Country.
We believe that thriving Country leads to thriving communities.
Thriving Country. Thriving Communities.
Our work is guided by the belief that when First Nations landholders have the tools, partnerships and supply chains needed to build successful enterprises on their own land, communities gain stronger futures.
Our work supports:
- Regenerative agriculture that repairs Country
- First Nations led supply chains
- Ethical commercialisation of bush foods and botanicals
- Training and workforce development
- Community enterprise and tourism opportunities
Follow the Flowers Movement
Follow the Flowers is a national movement bringing together First Nations regenerative farmers and landholders across multiple states to collaborate in ethical agricultural supply chains.

Red Dust Heelers
Creating pathways for people, community and Country.
Red Dust Heelers is a community-driven initiative of Outback Academy Australia that creates meaningful participation, training and employment pathways for people who may face barriers to traditional work opportunities, including people living with disability.
The Red Dust Heelers National Wheelchair Basketball players and staff use their sport to engage First Nations communities around participation and connection in a fun and inclusive environment for people with disability and their families and friends. This creates the relationships that lead to informal discussions about life, career, health, education which in turn inform how the heelers work with communities and individuals going forward. They have run three-day visits to remote communities around Australia as well as shorter events in urban and regional areas since 2013.
We recognise that many people have strong capabilities and knowledge but may not fit easily within conventional employment systems. Red Dust Heelers creates opportunities for individuals to also contribute through land-based activities, enterprise development and community participation.
Participants are supported to engage in practical activities connected to Country, including regenerative agriculture, land care, bush food production and community projects. Through these activities they build skills, confidence and connection while contributing to the wellbeing of their communities.
Red Dust Heelers reflects Outback Academy’s belief that everyone has something valuable to contribute. By creating inclusive pathways into enterprise, training and land stewardship, the program strengthens both individual wellbeing and community resilience.
